The read

What it feels like
The station moves 3.5 million people daily and it shows. West side is corporate towers with free observation decks. East side is Golden Gai, Kabukicho, and Omoide Yokocho. The tiny bars of Golden Gai are best experienced solo. Kabukicho is fine but stay aware at night.
Who is around
Commuters rushing through the station, bar-hoppers in Golden Gai, and tourists in Kabukicho
On foot
Flat and walkable, but the station itself is a labyrinth with over 200 exits. Once outside, navigation is straightforward.
After dark
Golden Gai is the standout: six narrow alleys of around 200 tiny bars, each seating about 6 people. Kabukicho is the main nightlife zone with bright signage and late-night restaurants. Both areas stay active until the early hours.
