- The scramble crossing is as electric as the videos suggest. Beyond that, Shibuya is a dense cluster of department stores, music venues, and izakayas. Centre-gai gets rowdy at night. The backstreets of Udagawacho and Tomigaya are calmer and more interesting.

- Teenagers on shopping runs, tourists at the crossing, and office workers filling izakayas after 7pm

- Hilly beyond the main station area. The scramble crossing and immediate surroundings are flat, but side streets climb steeply.

- The neon-lit streets stay packed. Bars, clubs, and karaoke venues in Dogenzaka (Love Hotel Hill area) stay open until the first trains at 5am. The scramble crossing is as busy at 11pm as at noon.
