- Senso-ji temple and Nakamise shopping street anchor this old-Tokyo district. More traditional and slower-paced than Shibuya or Shinjuku. Good budget hostels here. The area around Kappabashi (kitchen street) and the Sumida River walk add depth beyond the temple.

- Temple visitors in the morning, souvenir shoppers by noon, and quiet local streets by evening

- Flat and well-paved. The temple grounds and Nakamise street are pedestrian zones. The whole area is walkable in about 30 minutes.

- Senso-ji's main gate (Kaminarimon) and pagoda are lit dramatically, making it one of Tokyo's best nighttime photo spots. Nakamise shops close early, but the Hoppy Street area nearby has izakayas open late.
